The Wagons / The Science Project

The Grade 3 students finished another Science project:' called: 

“The Wagons”, which is part of our Science unit we have been studying: “Building with Different Materials. “

The wagons were an indispensable part of the first pioneers who crossed Canada from East to West. It was the emigrants’ practice to pack all their belongings, or at least all of them they could take with them, in canvas-covered wagons. The wagons were usually drawn by oxen or horses.

By building and discussing about the pioneers journey and their struggles in search of a better life, the Grade 3 students learnt to appreciate the history of our country and the sacrifice made by the first emigrants who populated the beautiful country we live on nowadays. 

The students enjoyed a lot this project. They will bring it home tomorrow.

We celebrated today William birthday and we all congratulated him wishing him the best.

                             Glimpse at our Math Class 

The Grade 3 students reviewed for our Math test. They used Manipulatives to create 3 digit numbers. They worked in groups, displayed their work and shared their knowledge with their classmates.

They developed understanding about using hundreds, tens and ones. They used place- value concepts to compare and order numbers to 1000.

Students used number lines and Hundred Chart to explore skip counting forward, backward, by: 5, 10, and 25. The latest focus was: “Numbers Patterns are extended to counting by 3’s and 4’s”.

World Children's Day has been held every year "to promote international togetherness, awareness among children worldwide, and improve children's welfare."

      Sabine did a great presentation today!  She shared with us her

                " Souvenirs  de voyage  a Disneyland!

   Bravo Sabine, I am so proud of you, the way that you summarized your trip was creative and impressive!

                                                            

       

                                Le projet en hygiene

                     

In Health, we learned about making responsible and informed choices to promote and improve traffic safety rules. The students completed a booklet and designed a safety poster to educate our community on staying safe in traffic.

                                    Musical Performance 

Some Grade 3 students decided to share their musical skills with their classmates during our Music class. 

 The students  played on different instruments, during the class time.

                                        

Some students played different instruments, such as, piano or violin and they either picked sacred Christmas carols or more difficult songs like “Ode to Joy,” by Beethoven.

Other students decided to sing and we were all touched by their beautiful voices.

It was an opportunity to shine, to share their talents with us, to develop new musical skills. All of us benefited from this great performance.

                                  Mouse in Meadow

                                  

I introduce elaborative detail to the students, reminding them of the importance of sensory details. For a fun twist the students pretended to be mice in meadow. We generated ideas for a descriptive paragraph that might look like a sample paragraph.

I taught my students when using adjectives, we describe a scene in specific details, allowing the reader to experience the scene as if he or she was there with you when you did.

The students enjoyed a lot this English writing activity and we decided to create a nice 

 Art Work,..

The students’ art projects are on display in our classroom now and soon they are going to take the projects home.

                                 We hope you will enjoy them as much as we did.

Dear Parents,

As we discussed /agreed during the Parent-Teacher Conferences, I will send home from time to time the Math cahier, duotang, in order to check, review and practice with your child what we have been studying in class.

Today I will send the Math cahier. Please practice with your child and return the student's work to school.

Next week, the students will write a Math test.

                                  Thanksgiving /Action de grâces

The true meaning of Thanksgiving focuses upon relationship. Thanksgiving is a relationship between God and mankind. It is also a time of thanks. On Thanksgiving Day we are reminded of the bounty of treasures that is a part of our lives.

The Grade 3 students spent a few moments before this celebration giving thanks for the richness of our lives and for our wonderful family, friends, environment, educators, etc, we have.

As an expression of gratitude, the students created their own The Horn of Plenty/ La corne de l’abondance, by writing in French what they are thankful for.

                       Happy Thanksgiving !

          The school would like to promote Choir to our students?

The choir will occur every Thursday starting on the October 12. Choir is intended to expose students to music and song while supporting school events and celebrations.
The students who would like to participate to these choir classes will be pulled out from class at 11:55 and will remain until lunch at 12:25 missing outdoor recess on that day.

       The Grade 3 students’ main goal of this year is to be successful.

I had a talk with my students and we decided that being successful means; being on time, being responsible, getting along with each of them and others, being willing to talk/ to share their feelings and mostly being motivated in everything they do..

The positive attitudes and skills we create now will help them fulfill their hopes and dreams now and in the future.

      This is the reason why we created the first Art Project, as a promise to be as Shiny as the Sun..

Student Learning Assessments (SLAs / Grade 3), are digitally-based assessments performed at beginning of the year.

It is a provincial assessment that enables both parents and teachers to identify student strengths and areas for growth.

The Grade 3 SLA is focused on "literacy and numeracy", which are defined as follows:

Literacy is the ability, confidence and willingness to engage with language to acquire, construct and communicate meaning in all aspects of daily living.

Numeracy is the ability, confidence and willingness to engage with quantitative or spatial information to make informed decisions in all aspects of daily living.

                                   

             The Grade 3 students finished successfully these 2 assessments.
